Responsible gaming
Gaming should be a paid-for bit of fun, not a way to make money. These habits help keep it that way.
18+ only
Online gaming is for adults aged 18 and over. Do not let anyone under 18 use your account or your phone to play, and keep your login details to yourself.
Set your limits before you start
- Money. Decide how much you can afford to lose this week, in RM, before you deposit. Treat it as the cost of the fun. Never use money meant for rent, bills, food or family.
- Time. Pick when you will stop, such as after 30 minutes or at a set time, and use your phone’s alarm or screen-time settings to remind you.
- Account tools. If your Winbox account offers deposit limits, time reminders or a break option, use them. Ask through the help option in your account if you cannot find them.
Habits that help
- Take regular breaks. Step away from the screen, stretch, drink some water.
- Do not chase losses. Trying to win back what you lost usually leads to losing more.
- Do not play when you are upset, stressed, tired or after drinking.
- Never borrow money, or use credit, to play.
- Remember that results are random. No system, pattern or lucky number changes that.
- Keep a balance. Make time for family, friends, work, rest and other hobbies.
Warning signs
It may be time to stop, or to talk to someone, if any of these sound familiar:
- You spend more money or time than you planned, again and again.
- You play to win back losses, or to escape worries.
- You hide your playing, or lie about it, to people close to you.
- You borrow, sell things or skip bills to keep playing.
- You feel restless, anxious or irritable when you try to cut down.
- Gaming is hurting your sleep, your work, your studies or your relationships.
Where to find help
You do not have to sort it out alone. Talking early makes it easier.
- Take a break from the account. Contact the operator through the help option in your account and ask to limit or close it. You can also uninstall the app and delete your saved link.
- Talk to someone you trust. A family member or friend can help you stick to a limit or keep your money safe for a while.
- See a professional. A doctor, a clinic or a counsellor can listen without judging and point you to local support for gambling problems.
- Get debt advice. If money is tight because of gaming, a free debt counselling service can help you make a plan.
- In a crisis, if you feel unsafe or in danger, call your local emergency number straight away.
